Herman Braun-Vega (July 7 1933 — April 2 2019) was a Peruvian painter and artist.

In 1950, he entered the Escuela Nacional Superior Autónoma de Bellas Artes del Perú where he studied fine art for a year and a half. At 18 he moved to Paris to become a painter. In October 1952, his son was born and Herman was forced (for practical and financial reasons) to abandon painting and dedicate himself to interior design. In 1955 he returned to Lima, where he opened an agency with architect Juan Gunther. In November 1967, Herman returned to Paris along with his family.

In 1978 he began to paint portraits, especially of his painter friends.

His works seek to play with the memory of the spectator by appropriating well known iconography of great Western painting masters and placing them within contemporary situations.
