Marlene Healey, a painter born in 1952 in London, spent much of her childhood traveling between Paris, Germany, England, and the United States due to having a father in the US Air Force. She studied art and science at Scottsdale and Mesa Community Colleges in Arizona and at Arizona State University. She primarily works on paper and canvas and her technique consists of layering many layers of paint to build up textured, abstract paintings.

Her original work made it into the Muppets with one of her paintings, "A Pearl Inside", hanging on the wall of Miss Piggy's office at Vogue.
